Brits to splash out on holidays in 2013

To make their lives easier when they are heading off on trips abroad, people can make use of Leeds Bradford Airport parking.

Indeed, demand for parking spaces at the hub may rise next year. According to research conducted by TravelSupermarket, Britons plan to splash more cash on vacations in 2013 and to take slightly longer trips than they did last year.

The organisation polled more than 5,000 holidaymakers and found that the average length of a main trip this year will increase by 0.6 days to 9.66 days, while spending on these adventures will go up from £1,092 in 2012 to £1,107 this year.

It was also revealed that Spain and its islands will be the most popular destinations among UK consumers in 2013, followed by the US. Other hotspots will include Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Italy and France.

Meanwhile, up to 35 per cent of those polled noted they intend to take a beach holiday over the coming 12 months. Slightly fewer respondents (29 per cent) revealed they want to take city breaks.

TravelSupermarket also found that cruises are likely to be more popular this year, along with all-inclusive breaks. In contrast, visits to families are forecast to dip slightly.

Responding to the findings, the organisation’s spokesman Bob Atkinson said: “Although many of us still like to take one main holiday, along with some additional short breaks, in 2013 we’ll see holidaymakers slightly increasing the number of days they spend away as well as upping their holiday budgets.

“However, controlling the budget will still be a key issue. The fact that people are still opting for self-catering accommodation and staying fairly close to home for their holidays, in destinations like Spain, shows how people are tightly managing their holiday spend and trying to make their money go as far as possible.”

By being shrewd when they book Leeds Airport parking, consumers may be able to save cash and help ensure their budgets stretch as far as possible.
