Hot air balloons may seem to be appealing during the winter months when the snow turns even the most ugly of places into a winter wonderland straight out of a movie. However, whilst it may seem appealing, the cold air that is encountered as your altitude increases will almost certainly serve to do nothing but make you ill and very uncomfortable indeed.
Very few people offering hot air balloon experiences will even fly over the winter months and, therefore, those who might have otherwise wished to go during such a beautiful season will be best off considering a different one.
But if winter is off the cards for such flights, which is the best month to go?
Ultimately, the best season will be one with the right weather conditions. With a half decent wind, you will go further and faster, however if it is too windy it may also be rather nerve-wracking whilst you are up there, or it may even mean that you cannot fly at all.
A good dose of sunshine will also be well worth having, not least to keep you warm, but also so that you can see Britain in quite literally the best possible light.
From here, it is really about personal preferences. If you prefer to see new wildlife and the first signs of plants blossoming, then the spring offers a wonderful chance to witness nature at its best, and with it comes more reliable weather than is often found during the rest of the year. Autumn may be colder and less forgiving, but there is still a lot of great beauty to be seen as the leaves fall from the trees, and those wishing to take beautiful photographs may find the autumn the best time to do so.
So, for many, spring will be the perfect time to fly, but ultimately any time between March and November can offer a wonderful experience and it may also simply be worth coinciding your hot air balloon experience with a special occasion to make the event even more memorable.
