Access to machinery removals key to UK manufacturers

Whenever manufacturers need to move to different sites or simply want to replace equipment at their existing premises, they can take advantage of machinery removals.

Demand for these services may be strong at present. According to a survey conducted by the EEF, 30 per cent of manufacturers are expecting an improvement in economic conditions in the UK. This trend is expected to be driven by exports, with half of the firms polled expecting export sales to end the year higher than in 2012.

Emerging markets featured strongly, with nearly half of the businesses polled seeing this as important. This figure climbed to almost two-thirds among large companies.

The EEF’s chief executive Terry Scuoler noted that firms have been investing in new and improved technology over recent times. When firms replace their old equipment with new versions, they often need to take advantage of specialist machine removals services.

Mr Scuoler remarked: “The past year has been a challenging one for UK manufacturers, but as they look to 2013 there is still the potential for growth in their businesses. The increases in investment in innovation in recent years will bear fruit as companies see opportunities from new product development and the commercialisation of new technology. These efforts will provide a platform for UK exporters to compete in faster growing markets and support efforts to diversify into new global supply chains.”

He added: “Overall there are reasons to be optimistic that manufacturers are well placed to benefit from a combination of growth in newer markets and demand for higher value goods; which is exactly what our economy needs.”

However, in a note of caution, the expert noted that there remains some degree of caution in business planning due to problems in the eurozone and, at the same time, there are concerns around wider global demand.
