Demand for baking equipment may be strong in the UK at present. After all, it seems as though Britons have caught the baking bug.
The BBC noted that nine million people are now baking more than they did a year ago. It also drew attention to the Clandestine Cake Club (CCC), which is a network of 159 baking clubs dotted around the country that enables people to get together for tea and cake and to meet new people.
Commenting on the appeal of the club, its founder Lynn Hill said: “You can imagine that baking a whole cake and having to eat it yourself can be a bit daunting, so I think people like having an outlet for their baking.”
Talking about her motives for establishing the organisation, she added: “It came about after doing afternoon teas in my own home as part of the supper club movement… after watching people sat around the table enjoying themselves… I decided that I wanted to do more of this but I didn’t want to do all the baking in my own home.”
There are now almost 6,000 members of the CCC and it is set to launch a cookbook of its recipes early next year.
Ms Hill went on to talk about the social element of the club. She stated that members like to be able to make cakes and them take them to events where other people can enjoy them.
Consumers who are involved in clubs like this, as well as those who simply like to create edible delights in their kitchens, need to have access to bakeware sets. Getting hold of these products is now easier than ever and many people head online to source the items. This is a convenient and stress free approach to shopping and it also permits individuals greater choice.
