Don’t Forget the Small Clothes Shop Essentials

When setting up a clothes shop, there are some things that are fairly obvious that you are going to need, such as racks to display the clothes on, and a till to allow customers to make purchases. However, there are plenty of other smaller things which you might not have thought about, which you are also going to need.

Size Cubes

Size cubes slot over the top of the hanger and allow customers to find what they need at a quick glance. The cubes can be plain or colour-coded, which is useful because customers quickly get used to which colour represents their size and so look for that rather than having to squint at the numbers. They are alsos more convenient than stickered or engraved hangers too, because sales staff don’t have to spend time rummaging through a pile of hangers trying to match the size to the garment – they can just pick out a cube from the organiser and box.

Sales Hang Tags

Hang tags also slip over the top of the hanger and are probably one of the most effective ways of demonstrating a sale price or promotional offer, again because customers can see them easily and quickly without having to rummage through the rail.

It’s a bit more fiddly, but to avoid the tags finding themselves littering the floor and the size cubes being obscured, put the tag on the hanger first, followed by the cube on top. Unless you’re running a temporary promotion, it is also a good idea to write the sales price on the attached garment tag too.

Shop Signs

You will need some basic health and safety signs, such as fire exit indicators and no smoking signs, but you’ll probably also want other signs too, such as to indicate open and closing times, and the location of the fitting rooms.
