More people may be turning to the web to source dairy free food

There is an impressive range of dairy free food for consumers to choose from these days and an increasing number of individuals may be heading online to get their hands on these products.

Drawing attention to the rising prominence of ecommerce, Visa Europe recently predicted that the third of this month would break records in terms of online spending in Britain.

It suggested that over the 24-hour period, a total of £320 million would be spent on its cards alone, with transactions topping 6.8 million. This would represent a rise of over a fifth compared with the same day last year.

In honour of the high volumes of traffic anticipated, the firm dubbed the occasion Mega Monday. Meanwhile, the busiest period of the day for shopping activity was expected to be between 20:00 and 21:00.

According to its commercial director Dr Steve Perry, one of the reasons why people are increasingly using the web to source products, including dairy free chocolate and so on, is because they are becoming more confident in the security of the transactions.

He added: “On Mega Monday, people across the UK will go online and use their Visa cards to make
6.8 million transactions, the most in a single day in UK history. That’s 21 per cent more than in 2011, signalling that consumers are becoming increasingly accustomed to the advantages of shopping online for everyday purchases and special items, especially in the lead-up to Christmas.

“Online shopping now accounts for a significant proportion of all retail spend.”

Many of those who rely on dairy free products may see the internet as a real blessing. Whereas in the past, they might have been restricted in terms of the products they could access from local shops, now they can order goods from a range of sources located around the world.
