Over 2,600 years ago, Isaiah the prophet predicted that God would send a Savior to save people from their sins so they could have eternal life and not have to face eternal torment.
Now in Bethlehem, there were shepherds who lived out in the fields who were watching their flock at night. Suddenly, the angel of the Lord appeared before them, and they were extremely afraid, for the glory of the Lord shone upon them.
Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
When the wise men departed, an angel of the Lord told Joseph in a dream to take baby Jesus and His mother and flee to Egypt for King Herod sought to kill the young Child.
