What is FTP ?

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) allows a person to transfer files between two computers that are connected via the Internet. When using FTP, a client is used to connect to a machine that holds the files on a server. The most commonly used FTP protocol is WS FTP for WIN. Fetch is used for Macintosh. FrontPage also has its own FTP built-it feature.

You can turn WS_FTP’s Information Window (the window at the bottom of WS_FTP) on or off. Click ‘View’ and then ‘Information Window’ to toggle the setting.

If you have long directories, it may be helpful to turn the Information Window off since it frees up some real estate on your screen.
