Why Electronic Products Will Never Be Perfect

No matter how good any product gets, there is always going to be room for improvement. Until we have a supercomputer at the end of the world (as some scientists predict there will one day be), any electrical product is likely to be able to be made faster, smaller, cheaper and more attractive on a surprisingly regular basis.

As we all know, Moore’s Law suggests that we will be able to double the capability of an electrical item on a regular basis, meaning that each and every product we create is likely to have a shorter shelf life than the one previous to it. This means that, more than ever, those creating new products need to be aware of the most effective –and indeed cost-effective – components at that time to ensure that they can create the most effective product possible to balance cost, efficiency and longevity.

This is therefore going to be a very tough task and, not only this, but companies will also need to keep a constant eye on developments in the power electronics industry to ensure that they can make slight changes on a regular basis to improve efficiency, reduce overheads and increase scope accordingly.

From the size of the switch mode power supply that is used in a product to the capability of any processors that may be included in the product, almost all technology will be vastly improving all the time, making it very simple for a business to get more from a product at a lower cost without changing its design constantly.

So, no matter how great your product may be, it can be surprising just how quickly it falls behind to other competitors on the market and, as such, it is important to keep an eye on the advancement of all the components that may be available and be constantly refining any product accordingly.
