X Factor poisoning case highlights importance of food hygiene

When people deal with food, it is vital they have had the relevant training. These days, many such workers take advantage of a food safety course online as a convenient and effective way of boosting their skills.

The importance of training like this is brought sharply into focus when hygiene lapses occur and consumers end up suffering food poisoning. According to figures cited by the NHS, there were almost 84,560 recorded cases of food poisoning in England and Wales in 2010. It also pointed out that while most bouts of sickness are minor in nature, the effects can sometimes be serious.

As well as the human suffering associated with such illnesses, there can be legal consequences if firms are found to have contravened hygiene regulations.

One case in the US recently highlighted the significance of food safety. An X Factor live show in the States was affected after contestants suffered food poisoning.

According to TMZ, Drew Chadwick from the group Emblem3 had to be hospitalised because he could not stop throwing up after eating a tuna sandwich takeaway. Several fellow contestants also experienced symptoms after consuming the meals.

The news source suggested that a group of singing hopefuls and crew members from the show ordered food to their Hollywood property and almost everyone who ate the tuna salad subs was sick all night. For example, Camilla from the group 1432 was said to be affected.

Meanwhile, Chadwick was even placed on an IV drip to rehydrate him because of the severity of his reaction, TMZ suggested.

By taking the relevant food safety courses, workers can minimise the chances they will put customers at risk of such problems. Of course, there are also other personal development programmes for individuals to take advantage of, including first aid training in Newcastle and elsewhere.
